What is emergent curriculum?

How can we ground our teaching in love, joy, and community and create an authentic relevant curriculum? We look to our environment for sources of educational inspiration and follow the interests of the children to develop an emergent curriculum. Our teachers spend lots of time observing, listening and interacting with the children as they play freely. Relationships become central to our time together and projects emerge.  It’s an opportunity for teachers to channel children’s play and become mentors in our learning journeys. Following is a sample of our emergent curriculum threads and projects.
