Grounded, Ready, Happy
What is a nature preschool? What is a forest kindergarten? What does a Reggio-inspired, emergent curriculum, project-based learning preschool centered around the natural world and all its special-ness look like??? And on top of that - the children's well-being is the priority? Feelings are validated and named?? Conflict is an opportunity to hone social skills?? What? This place really exists!?! Yup. It's for real.
We've been doing this work for 12 years, learning, growing, reflecting as educators. We are dedicated to the children and to our approach. It's the Little Leaf way.

About Us
Welcome to Little Leaf, the first licensed Nature Preschool
in New York State!
Little Leaf is a unique nature preschool for children ages 2 - 5. Our educators are passionate early childhood experts who place play, social-emotional learning and the natural world at the heart of the children's days. The curriculum is emergent and play-based, inspired by the Reggio Emilia and Waldorf pedagogies. The global Nature Pre-school Movement and the Art of Mentoring approach enliven our daily work.
We have beautiful indoor classrooms as well as acres of the natural world to explore at all of our sites.
Little Leaf is comprised of three locations; the Andrus-on-Hudson campus in Hastings-on-Hudson, the Lenoir Nature Preserve in Yonkers, and Bethany Arts Community in Ossining.
Little Leaf is a member of the Eastern Region Association of Forest Kindergarten and Nature Schools, the Childcare Council of Westchester, and the National Association of the Young Child. Little Leaf at Andrus-on-Hudson and Little Leaf at Lenoir Nature Preserve are licensed by the State of NY Office of Children and Family Services.
